We are writing the year 1410. It's July, the 15th. The Polish-Lithuanian army opposes the German-Prussian Teutonic Knights in one of the largest battles in Medieval Europe. The battle now continues in your living room on a 64-square battle field. Can you crush the Teutonic Knights too or will you give the battle a different outcome?

Our Grunwald themed chess set is designed around the historic battle which took place near the village of Grunwald - thus its name. The Teutonic Knights are represented by the white pieces while the Polish-Lithuanian army is made out of the black pieces. A welcomed change in seeing the black pieces on the winning side (at least historically), and you don't have to feel bad about playing black yet again.

Now a few words about the set: Like all of our other themed chess sets, the pieces are made of marble powder, bonded together with resin and they are all individually handpainted. If you like your chessmen to be heavy, you won't be disappointed with a king's weight of over 110g! (to be precise, the black king weighs in at 115g and the white one 126g). The kings' heights are over 130mm. Truly impressive. With a board size of 69cm it takes up quite some space on your desk and the entire set puts slightly over 4.8kg on the scale!
